Behind the studio
Perfect for Valentine’s day and all year round! I saw this fabric a week or so ago and fell in love with all that chocolate! I like the realistic print – the chocolates look like you could pluck them from the fabric and pop them in your mouth. I love how each of these items turned out and they can found in my shop. Hope you are all warm and dry today! Still winter, and still more snow here in Pennsylvania. So far…. keeping fingers crossed…(!) the electricity is on. We shoveled 12 inches off the driveway earlier. Guess we will see how much more snow or ice we get before it is all over. If you are enjoying life in a warm location – here’s a little sample of what you are missing 🙂
Ok, time to get back to work. I have some fun new totes and small paintings to post over the next few days. In the meantime – stay warm and enjoy your day!

I have a collection of shells that I use for references when painting. I have several scallop shells from Florida and from New England. I like the blue color and the sharp ridges of the bay scallop below, ( even though this one has a hole). I like the colors and the patterns on the Florida shell.
In this miniature scallop shell painting, I combined the patterns from one and the blue color from the other. I am not sure that scallops actually come with blue stripes but that is the fun of artist license 🙂 I painted the shell nestled in the sea grass and sand.

My son showed me this well done pep talk video over the weekend. A great message for everyone learning a new skill. New skills take lots of time and practice to perfect that skill to match how you see it in your mind’s eye. I thought my readers might like this video too. Enjoy!

I have a friend who asked for wristlets with African print fabrics. I found some beautiful Kente cloth cotton with bold oranges, green, and purples. The patterns are very bold, graphic, and color blocked.
I used some fussy cutting to get the patterns centered on the main pieces of the wristlets. I loved how the colors and the patterns lined up on the finished product. The wristlets were beautiful! I was excited to have enough fabric leftover to make some for my shop. They are beautiful and I think they will be a favorite . See what you think 🙂
