Some Fresh Changes for 2026

Posted in Peeking Behind the Easel, and Peeking Behind the Seam

Happy New Year! Hope everyone is well and enjoying life! I”ve been working on some tweaks and upgrades here.

First news is I have removed free ship on my Etsy shops. The good news for you is I have also dropped my prices.

Shipping has increased every year and even 2x a year. Free shipping is added into the cost of each product, which each time the shipping goes up, so does my product price. I am not happy with how this is working for my customers, and it’s making my products uncompetitive and over priced. So 2026 brings a better way. I have lowered my prices on most items. And while there is a shipping fee now, I think it will be minimum with the lower pricing.

Second news, while I am still happily running my Etsy shops, I have finally loaded my sewing products into my Shopify store. I have had the painting there for a bit. Now my sewing is loading as we speak. I will be adding them into the visible part of the shop over the next few weeks. This will give me some freedom to add some new products without making my Etsy shops look like a mess, & accommodate those customers who don’t like shopping Etsy.

So you will have 2 places to shop now! My Etsy shops and my new online shopify shop: Sibstudioartsewing.com . I will be adding this shop to the header here shortly.

And as a new year begins, I have oodles of ideas for new paintings, new bags & purses, and lots more! Enjoy the rest of your day and stop by again for updates as I create and make one of a kind product!

Cherry Blossom Painting

Posted in Art Work, and Peeking Behind the Easel

Some paintings just need a frame.

This beautiful painting of a cherry blossom turned out lovely, but it was missing something. I love the oval shape of the canvas and how it hints of Easter eggs and spring. That is why I chose to paint a beautiful sprig of cherry blossoms. As happy as I was with the end result, something was missing.

Tada! What a difference a frame makes! Now it has a polished finish! The white frame pulls out the pinks and blues and really make this painting special.

Many of my paintings are on gallery wrapped canvas, so you have the choice of with or without a frame. I painted the sides of the canvas, so the painting looks neat and tidy when hanging without a frame. This painting, however, look much more complete with it framed. You can find this painting, wired and ready to hang here: Cherry Blossom painting

New Shopping Site: Sibstudioartsewing.com

I’ve mentioned I was working on opening up a Shopfy shop in addition to my Etsy shops. It’s been slow going, but it is up and running. As of right now, I have just my art work posted for sale. My sewing bags, wristlets, & more are coming onboard shortly. I will continue to have both my Etsy shops up and running, and this new website will be in addition to the Etsy shops.

The name of the shopify shop : SibStudioArtSewing.com Take a peek and see what you think!

As frustrated with Etsy as I get, it is very easy to open an Etsy shop and get started. Shopify caters to all big brick and mortar and tiny shops like mine. It’s overwhelming to get started and get the hang of it. But I did it, and I’m up and running. 🙂

Etsy has a limit on their seller covered pricing. This is fine for most of my items – both art & sewing. But I do have a few paintings that are over the pricing. Sibstudio Art & Sewing will allow for some of my higher priced paintings. It will also easily let me showcase my work for some side projects I am working on.

I also wanted to add some accessories like straps and tassels to my sewing shop. It’s difficult to set my Etsy shop to allow this without it looking overly cluttered & messy. I will be able to create sections for the accessories without cluttered up the whole site. I also want to explore some different sewing, again without cluttering up my Etsy shop.

So new things happening around here! I will keep you up to date as I include my sewing on the new site. I will continue to sell on my Etsy shops – SibStudio & SibStudio Sewing! This new site will be in addition to the Etsy shops.

Happy 2024!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!! The 4th quarter of 2023 flew by way too fast and here we are – 2024!!

What’s happening around here: I am working a little slower as I watch a little grandchild most days. I am sewing and painting during nap time, in the evenings and weekends. But still rocking & rolling with new bags & paintings sitting on my worktable waiting to to photographed and listed. Custom orders being completed. New painting started on my easel, and new bags being cut out and ready to be sewn. These are exciting days!! 🙂

I hope to do better on social media: Instagram, Pinterest, and of course this blog. 🙂

I am also working on setting up a shop on Shopify! I will keep both Etsy shops but this new shop will combine both my art and my sewing all in one place. I enjoy Etsy & it will continue for now to be a great place to sell my bags & art. But I am looking forward to having everything in one place, and having the freedom to experiment with new ideas, as well as lessen the stress of Etsy’s algorithm demands.

So let’s lift our coffee cups to the new year – may it be peaceful, productive and oh so fun!!

Old Tree Still Standing

Posted in Art Work, and Peeking Behind the Easel

I took a photo of this old broken sycamore tree about 4 years ago because it caught my attention. Still standing, making a statement amongst the newer trees as an ode to the past.

I used the photo as a reference for a painting: A portrait of an old tree

We were walking along the same path a few days ago and came across the same old tree – still standing 4 years later!

Surrounded by even more young trees. It’s a bit shorter and missing most of it’s white sycamore bark.

A big hole in the lower part of the stump has created a tunnel of sorts for wildlife to use. And a bit of faded bark still on the trunk as well. I wonder how many more years it will continue to stand it’s ground.
