Painted Glass

Posted in Uncategorized

Hi Everyone!

As many of you know I’ve been painting on glass for years. I am not a fan of the very transparent glass paint, although I’ve seen some beautiful glassware painted in this manner.  I like the idea of fine art painting using glass as the canvas.  In the past I was using an acrylic glass medium with acrylic paint. Last year I had a hard time finding the medium and it forced me to relook at what glass paint was out there. I found that glass paints have evolved and there are paints that are much more opaque and compatible with what I want to do with glass.  It took a bit of getting used to  the stickiness of the glass paints. I experimented on several old drinking glasses to get the hang of it. After a few comedic flying paintbrushes from too much pressure trying to move the paint around, I got the hang of it.

Heat setting really is the way to finish the glass, and I have to admit how scary it is to put a glass that I put a lot of time into, into the oven and turn on the heat. I always have visions of shattering glass exploding everywhere…. so far that is nothing but my imagination. : – )

So I’ve painted a   popular set of seashell wineglasses and posted them up on Etsy. I am currently working on poinsettias on wineglasses for the holiday season and will be posting them in a few days as well.

Take care and enjoy your day!

Fall Leaves

Posted in Uncategorized

Hi Everyone!

Leaves are just starting to change colors.  It will be interesting to see how colorful the leaves are this fall after a very dry August/September and the flooding rains this past week.  I got to work with my paints and decided on a very colorful fall season.  : – )

My favorite leaves are maples, but my favorite leaves to  paint are oak leaves.  I like that they can be painted with a sense of movement and depth.  I’ve painted several fall leaves paintings over the years. This one is my new favorite and is matted and ready for framing. It’s posted up on Etsy.

Enjoy the cooler weather and take care!

Photos of Philly Nighttime

Posted in Uncategorized

Hi Everyone!

Car problems and post office mishaps slowed me down this week! Isn’t it always something?!

But I did get a chance to go into Philadelphia during the week and remembered to bring my camera. I have a night setting on it and haven’t thought to use it. It was the perfect place to try it out.  I am a big fan of the Canon Powershot digital cameras. Mine is the A1100IS.  I like the way it takes very close photos for my artwork, and is also easy to use for capturing family life.  There’s hardly ever a bad photo.  So I was interested to see how the night setting worked.   I think it work well – I’m pleased:

Here’s to a better week for all of us!  Take care!

New Minis at Exton

Posted in Uncategorized

Hi Everyone!

I swapped out mini canvases and placed new ones at the Exton Mall’s Chester County Art Assoc. Gallery.  All the artwork is swapping out this week, with artists bringing in lots of new art work.  There is some wonderful work up already, definitely worth your time to stop in and take a look.  They are open 11 am – 7 pm Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  Come November they will be open everyday for the holidays.

Here’s a photo of what I have there for the next weeks:

Enjoy the weekend! Take care!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve been painting fall themed mini canvases the last few weeks.  There are several posted on my Etsy shop.  Some will be going to the Exton shop this Thursday.  The little minis paint up quickly so I’ve concentrated on them this past week.  The larger paintings and the painted glass  take more time, so they will be posted as I finish them. I expect to have the first set of glasses up by the end of the week.

Enjoy the rest of your day! Take care!
