Monday’s Sneak Peek

Posted in Peeking Behind the Easel, and Uncategorized

Good morning!
I’ve been busy with customs orders for both my sewing shop and my art shop for the past month or so. It’s always fun to paint and sew for customers, using new fabrics, new designs, painting new ideas, and new surfaces.

I am adding new items in both shops this week.  Here’s a sneak peek:

At SibStudio:

I Spy Signs of Spring

As the snow slowly, slowly melts, little signs of spring are showing up:

Nice to see signs of spring when it is still in the 20’s during the day. Won’t be long before these daffodils are up and blooming.  Can’t wait!!

Perfect for Weddings and Proms

Posted in Sewing: Finished Bags & Pouches

I am listing several beautiful satin wristlets on my shop. They are perfect formal accessory for weddings, prom and formal dances, and other formal events. They make carrying your cellphone, keys, money and make up easy. Two difference styles  – my smartphone wristlets and a zipper closure clutch style.

These two wristlets are made from a gorgeous peacock blue satin. The silver sparkly trim is sewn in to the wristlet. The smartphone wristlet is lined with yellow satin to make sliding your cellphone in and out easy. There is a pocket in front for money, id, credit cards and secured with a heavy duty velcro tab. The clutch style wristlet has a zipper opening and a small pocket inside for credit cards.  It is fully lined with white and blue stars cotton.  Both fit iPhone 5 and other cellphones up to 5.25 inches in length.

These two feature sky blue lace over a sapphire blue satin.  The smartphone wristlet has coral satin interior. The clutch style has a white cotton with blue stars lining and a zipper pocket inside.  I like doing custom orders if you would like a different color. I am listing the smartphone wristlet  this afternoon.

Yellow Tulip Painting

Posted in Art Work, and Peeking Behind the Easel

What a cold and snowy winter this has been…! Yesterday brought another inch or so and more predicted later on this week. So what to do? Paint spring flowers is what I am doing!

This week I finished a 6 x 6 inch painting of yellow tulips. I use photos of tulips I’ve taken over the years as my references. I chose warm yellows for the flowers because I like yellow tulips and for the warmth of the color.  The leaves are painted with blue greens and touches of purple. The background is a purple – azure blue blend to help pop the yellow tulips.

I like the 6 by 6 inches canvases – not too small and not too big. The gallery wrap canvas means no framing needed. You can frame it if you like, but the sides are painted so the painting looks great hanging frameless.

A great size

Stay warm and enjoy your day !

Cheetah Tote

Posted in Sewing: Finished Bags & Pouches

I love so many of the suede cloths that are available now.  Suede cloth or suedecloth is a faux suede that has the velvety feel and drape of suede but is washable. Many of my customers prefer a vegan suede, and suede cloth is a perfect fit for them.  This cheetah suede cloth is my favorite. I love the rich browns as well as the soft nap. I thought it would make an awesome tote paired with black faux leather. See what you think:

I paired it with a hot pink cotton lining and zebra pockets.  I quilted the inside fabric for sturdiness and to make the inside as pretty as the outside.  The zebra pockets are lower in the tote to keep the tote appropriate for work and other places but still have a little fun with the insides.  Here’s a peek at the inside:

This tote is listed on my sewing shop now. I am adding new items in both shops this week and will be giving a peek and the behind the scenes stories about them over the next week.
