Hi Everyone!

I am painting several small paintings to be matted for my portfolio at the Mall. One that I am working on right now  is seashells.

I usually start with a rough sketch to decide on the composition. For this painting, I was able to use the shells to decide on a pleasing composition.  The sketch is fairly rough and serves as a guideline for the painting.   The rest of the painting is taking shape in my mind as decide on the composition.

When I am satisfied, it’s time to move on to the fun part – painting. I decided on  a simple shoreline background with the shells as the stars.  I start by laying in the mid tone background colors and use gesso to lay out the shape of the shells. There’s still time to correct placement, shapes, and colors if I need to.

.

Stay tuned to see the final painting!

Hi everyone!

Hope you all have been enjoying this beautiful weather!  Between that and Easter, I don’t have much new to show you from my painting world.  Though, I have been working on something new.  I’ve been experimenting with two of my favorite things to do:  painting & quilting.  I dove right into the world of Designing Handbags.  Some of the fabric is quilted, and pieced together to create a one-of-a-kind look and all are hand-painted.  Each handbag is 9.5″ x 6.5″ and come in a variety of colors perfect for the season… and this weather!  Next time you’re at the mall, make sure you stop by to check out my latest experiment.

Hello! Up and Running At Last!

Welcome to my blog!

I’m finally up and running!  Keeping a blog seemed like the easiest way to keep you guys posted on what’s going on in my art world.  Not only does it allow you to see what new paintings I’ve brought to the Mall, but it allows you to ask what happened to you favorite piece.  If I swapped it out before you had the chance to make your purchase, contact me and I will bring it back just for you!

I’ve really taken to painting mini canvases, which are actual canvas on a much smaller scale. I paint these mini canvases based on the season, which makes these a great last minute gift! The canvases measure 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and are the  ATC [Artist Trading Card] standard. The best part is that it allows me to paint whatever I’m in the mood to paint that particular day. This size has easily become one of my favorites to paint!

Here are 2 new mini paintings that can be found at the Chester County Art Association Exton Square Studio in the Exton Square  Mall:

"Sunflower Three"

In addition to my signature mini canvases, I have a number of standard matted pieces in my portfolio at the Mall gallery.

Be sure to check back on a regular basis to see what’s newly added to the Exton mall, the Art Association, or elsewhere.  I am always working on new paintings for the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Enjoy your day!
