Glitter Velvet Hobo Bag

Posted in Sewing: Finished Bags & Pouches

This is the finished bag from the beautiful glitter velvet and satin! This is the fun of sewing: two pieces of fabric, some thread, and scissors and …voila!!… a stunningly beautiful bag!

This stunning, one of a kind bag would be perfect for an evening event, Mother of the Bride or Groom bag, and any special occasion. Sometimes you want to carry all your stuff even for a special event, and this gorgeous medium sized bag would be perfect!

I cut the velvet so the glitter catches the light almost no matter how you carry the bag. The bag is a pattern from the very talented Oro Rosa Patterns. I design most of my own bags, but this bag is one of my favorites to sew. I lined the bag with a wedding weight satin to continue the sparkle of this bag. The bag has enough structure to stand up on it’s own but still has the slouchy feel of a classic hobo bag. You can find this gorgeous bag on my SibStudioSewing shop

What’s on My Sewing Table This Week:

Posted in Peeking Behind the Seam

Beautiful purple glitter velvet with smooth purple satin. The glitter velvet is a very dark, almost black, purple, with lots and lots of grape purple sparkle glitter. It’s a beautiful fabric with a bit of a nap. I am cutting the fabric so the glitter with catch the light no matter how the finished bag is carried.

The deep purple satin is a heavier weight – thicker – fabric so it can hold up to be used as a purse lining. I’m planning to use gunmetal hardware – rivets and D ring – so the hardware blends in with the fabric, rather than accent the fabric.

Stay tuned for the finished bag!
