Sushi Portrait Paintings

Posted in Art Work, and Peeking Behind the Easel

There is a sushi display in our local grocery store that is simply amazing.  You can see the time and attention to detail that each California roll or tuna rolls receives. The love for sushi shines in the artistic craftsmanship of each roll.

I decided after stopping to admire the beauty and artistry of the sushi rolls, that they needed to be painted. These are my first 2  little sushi portraits.

I love the little California rolls with the salmon on top.  I painted it on a yellow background to help pop the white of the rice.  Of course the sushi needed a chopsticks to show off it’s deliciousness and size.

As you can see this painting is small – 5 x 4 inches.  Perfect for the kitchen, dining room or even office, wall or counter.

This painting features the traditional seaweed wrapped tuna or salmon roll. And of course, no one can eat just one!

This one is a little larger at 6 x 6 inches.  The perfect size for hanging in a kitchen or dining room.  Both of these paintings can be found at my Etsy shop.   Enjoy!

Pantone 2018 Color of the Year

Posted in Reviews

Yesterday Pantone released their color of the year for 2018 :

18-3838 ULTRA VIOLET

I get a kick out of their artist statement on the meaning of the color Ultra Violet:

“A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future…

…..Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets….”

As an artist, I like the medium tone and that is not a harsh, jarring color.  As a seamstress, I know my customers who go crazy over purple, will love anything made with this Ultra Violet.

I like this color. It’s a nice calm, shade of blue-purple that is not too harsh or too pastel. It would be a nice accent in any home, whether in a painting, on a wall, as pillows, or furniture.  It’s a color that looks good on most people as far as clothing goes.  There are so many people who love purple, I think Ultra Violet will be a big hit.

Tennis, Golf, and Butterfly Smartphone Clutches

Posted in Sewing: Finished Bags & Pouches

I have sewn new smartphone clutches that are perfect for the summer season. One is freshly listed and the others are a sneak peak for my readers.

Tennis Smartphone Clutch

This pink and white tennis ball smartphone clutch is perfect for the tennis player, tennis fan, and for anyone on the go.  It has an inside zipper pocket as well as 2 other 3 x 4 inches pockets.

The 9 x 5.5 inches is perfect for any of the larger smartphones on the market and still has plenty of room for your money, and other items.

Coming to SibStudioSewing later today and tomorrow:

Golf Smartphone Clutch

I had some fun with the pink and white polka dots lining to mimic the golf balls on the outside of the purse.

Calico Butterfly Smartphone Clutch

This purse is so pretty and summery. It is a great size for those days that you don’t want to lug around a large pocketbook.

Perfect size clutch

Enjoy your day!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone’s week was a good one 🙂

I have new items in both shops. I finished the Dragonfly Foldover Clutch last week. I had the clutches cut out and ready to sew on my previous post:

And here it is finished :

Dragonfly Fold Over Clutch

I love this satin fabric.  It is a heavy weight satin with really beautiful metallic pink, lavender, green, and blue dragonflies. I cut this clutch with an angle for interest when it is folded over.

The perfect size clutch for your phone and makeup items.

Inside is  lined with pink satin. It has 4 pockets as well as plenty of room for your larger smartphone and makeup. I made 2 of these clutches and both are up on my shop.

I also have a new painting up on my SibStudio art shop:

Pink jellyfish painting

I had a lot of fun with this painting. I like the narrow canvas because it lend itself well to focusing on the jellyfish and it’s tentacles.  I added silver glitter paint for some of the tentacles so that it catches the light a gives a little illusion of movement.

The silver paint I used didn’t have enough glitter – really, can you ever have too much glitter?! I added more glitter to the paint and into the wet paint.

Glitter tentacles

The tentacles really sparkle when they catch the light and gives the airy look of that jellyfish have as they float pass.   Both of these are listed on my Etsy shops. You can find links to my shops on the above menu .

New Foldover Clutches

Posted in Sewing: Finished Bags & Pouches

I have been working on new purse designs. My latest is a folder clutch.

Camo Fold Over Clutch

The camo clutch has faux or vegan leather corners.  I have been paying with making the top angled so that when it folds over it adds a little pizzazz.

The clutch is roomy enough to fit everything you need in your clutch. And I like to make the insides fun as well as practical.  The camo clutches have a inside zipper pocket as well as 2 regular pockets for your id, money, lipsticks, etc.

This clutch has pink and brown damask cotton lining and pockets

The Camo Fold Over Clutches are posted on my shop. I have more to come!
