Mini Jack Painting

Posted in Art Work

I painted this adorable mini jack o’lantern this week. I had some left over oranges and yellows from my previous painting, so I put them to use. Mini Jack is smiling on a 4 x 4 inches gallery wrapped canvas.

I used dark teal and black for the background to give it a dark night look. It gives the oranges and yellows of the pumpkin a bit of a pop & glow.

This little Mini Jack will fit into any Halloween decor. He is already listed on my SibStudio Etsy shop & ready for a new home. Enjoy!

New Jack O’Lantern Painting

Posted in Art Work, and Peeking Behind the Easel

“Pumpkin Family” painting is finished ! A family of pumpkins with an impish jack o’latern sandwiched between two parents pumpkins.

I started this fun painting several months ago. I even posted a blog post on it when I was first working on it. You can see the before photo below:

After being set aside for other projects, I pulled it out last week & finally finished it!

It is 8 x 16 inches gallery wrapped canvas. The canvas wraps around the sides of the painting so framing is not needed. I used layers of oranges, yellows, maroons, and browns for the pumpkins. Greens & yellows for the stems. The background is a periwinkle blue to help pop the oranges of the pumpkins.

You can find this adorable Halloween painting listed on my SibStudio Etsy shop. Enjoy!

What’s on my easel this week? 6/17/2021

On my easel right now is a painting in progress of three pumpkins. I sketched the pumpkins on the canvas with chalk several weeks ago and set the canvas aside. This week I was in the mood to paint pumpkins 🙂

My favorite size canvas of the moment is a 16 x 8 or 8 x 4 inches long canvas. It gives focus to the subject being painted. Luckily my buyers agree, as these sizes are their favorites as well.

I like the composition of a pumpkin trio. It brings a nice balance to the horizontal canvas. I always have some fun at the end with the littlest pumpkin that you will see in my next update. So far in this painting I have painted in my mid tones and my initial darks and lights to give fullness to the pumpkins. Stay tuned to updates and the finished painting!
